UPDATE Tuesday, April 1, 2025:
We are pleased to confirm that an agreement has been reached between Stock Transportation and its Bus Monitors, and support services will not be suspended. All bus, van, and monitor support services provided by Stock Transportation will operate as planned going forward (subject to regular cancellations/delays).
Update Monday March 24, 2025:
Tri-Board has been advised by Stock Transportation that an agreement has been reached with its Drivers, meaning buses/vans will operate as normal, subject to regular delays and cancellations.
However, Stock has not come to an agreement with its Monitors. Students will continue to be supported by Monitors this week and further communication to families of students on Stock routes that require Monitors will be provided in the coming days, as more information becomes available.
Tri-Board and the school boards have no influence over negotiations but are hopeful that an agreement between Monitors and their employer, Stock Transportation, can be reached quickly.
This potential disruption to Monitor services will not impact HPEDSB or PDSB students.
Update Wednesday, March 19, 2025:
Tri-Board has been advised by Stock Transportation that bus/van services will not be provided starting Tuesday, March 25, 2025 due to an ongoing labour dispute. On Tuesday and until further notice, all Stock Transportation busing and van services will be suspended, and families will be responsible for making alternative travel arrangements for their students.
All services not operated by Stock will run as planned, subject to regular delays and cancellations. Families should log into the Student Portal to confirm if their bus is operated by Stock Transportation and to review their bus status alert subscriptions. This service disruption will be reflected in BusPlanner as cancellations posted daily, for those who are subscribed to bus status alerts. A list of daily cancellations can also be viewed here.
Tri-Board and the school boards have no influence over negotiations but are hopeful that an agreement between Drivers and Monitors and their employer, Stock Transportation, can be reached quickly. As soon as Tri-Board is made aware that the dispute has ended, families will be updated with the date that transportation services will resume.
The disruption to transportation services will not affect students with the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board or the Provincial School Board.
Update Tuesday, March 18, 2025:
Tri-Board has been made aware that on Monday March 17th, Stock Drivers and Monitors voted against the tentative agreement reached in February. A disruption to transportation services is possible and Tri-Board will provide an update as soon as we have more information.
Families should log into the Student Portal to confirm which of their buses is operated by Stock Transportation and to review bus status alert subscriptions. A suspension of services will be reflected in BusPlanner as cancellations, for those who are subscribed to bus status alerts. A list of daily cancellations can also be viewed here.
If a disruption to transportation services occurs, families will be responsible for making alternative travel arrangements for their students.
Update Friday, February 21, 2025:
We are pleased to confirm that the parties have reached a tentative agreement and transportation services will not be suspended on Monday. All routes, including those operated by Stock Transportation, will run as planned next week, subject to regular cancellations/delays (i.e., due to weather).
Wednesday, February 19, 2025:
A potential disruption to home-to-school transportation services for Algonquin & Lakeshore Catholic District School Board and Limestone District School Board students who ride bus routes operated by Stock Transportation may begin as early as Monday, February 24, 2025. This disruption to transportation services is the result of contract negotiations between Stock Transportation and its Bus Drivers and Monitors. Stock Transportation operates 119 routes within Tri-Board’s service area, transporting approximately 6,500 students to and from school daily.
As early as Monday, February 24, 2025, routes contracted to Stock Transportation may be suspended until further notice, and families would be responsible for making alternative arrangements for their students to travel to and from school. Routes not operated by Stock Transportation will continue to operate as planned, subject to regular cancellations/delays (i.e., due to weather). Unfortunately, due to a myriad of factors, students cannot be temporarily assigned to other routes.
Communication from Tri-Board will be sent to impacted families notifying them of the potential disruption to transportation services. Families can also log into the Student Portal and confirm if their bus is operated by Stock Transportation. Many students ride buses operated by different companies in the morning and afternoon, so it is important to check all assigned transportation, including transfers. For example, if a student rides on a bus operated by Stock in the morning, but rides a bus operated by another company in the afternoon, then only their morning transportation would be suspended. The suspension of services will be reflected as cancellations in BusPlanner for those who are subscribed to bus status alerts.
Families should consider contingency plans if transportation services are suspended, such as carpooling or using public transit, where possible. Schools have been advised that there may be an increase in traffic congestion at and around school sites.
The disruption to transportation services will not affect students with the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board or the Provincial School Board.
Tri-Board and the school boards have no influence on contract negotiations between the Bus Drivers/Monitors and their employer, Stock Transportation. We are hopeful that both parties will reach an agreement soon, and there will be no disruption to transportation services. We recognize that any withdrawal of services will affect students and their families, and we will provide updates on this situation as soon as possible.
