Elective Learning Program Transportation Form

Complete this form if the student is enrolled in an elective learning program (IB, LEAP, Challenge, etc) housed outside their attendance boundary. Transportation is never guaranteed for these programs and parents are responsible for transportation to and from the school that houses the elective learning program. Applications for transportation may be submitted to Tri-Board and transportation may be provided only if:

  1. There is an existing bus route;
  2. There is space on the bus;
  3. There is no additional cost the School Board

If approved, Tri-Board will assign the student to the bus stop on the route that is closest to the student’s residence. Tri-Board will not re-route buses or move stops for students in elective learning programs. Late arrival/early dismissal as well as extended ride time may be necessary. It is the responsibility of the coordinator of the elective learning program to advise parents and students at the time of registration that the student is not eligible for transportation unless special approval is granted by Tri-Board. The approval of transportation arrangements for students in elective learning programs outside of their attendance boundary will be determined on an annual basis.

Special Education Request for Transportation Form

Complete this form if the student has special needs recognized by the school board. Submit this form to the school board’s Educational/Student Services department and they will coordinate with Tri-Board to determine how the student’s needs can be safely accommodated.

Special Circumstance/Temporary Transportation Form

Complete this form for ineligible students facing extenuating circumstances affecting their need for transportation such as:

  1. Extenuating circumstances of a student facing a serious emergency;
  2. There are circumstances due to a temporary disability of a student verified by a doctor’s certificate;
  3. There are temporary circumstances resulting from a School Board’s actions to close a school or relocate a program;
  4. There are other extenuating circumstances as identified by Tri-Board or the School Board.

Special circumstances must be related to the student directly. Transportation may be provided if:

  1. There is an existing bus route;
  2. There is space on the bus;
  3. There is no additional cost the School Board

If approved, Tri-Board will assign the student to the bus stop on the route that is closest to the student’s residence. Should that space be needed for an eligible student, you will be removed from transportation with 48-hour notice.  This form must be submitted to the school for processing.

Alert

Stop Change Requests & Late Applications

Due to the volume of applications our office is receiving at this time of year, Tri-Board will begin reviewing Stop Change Requests after September 20th. This is so we can focus on processing applications for students who would otherwise not have transportation.

Families that do not want to use their current bus stop until its review, or have applied for transportation at the beginning of September, should  consider alternative means of transportation/travel for the first day(s) of school. We are currently processing regular applications received on September 14th. Bus companies require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice of new riders.

Elective Learning Program or Special Circumstance applications will take longer, as processing eligible students is our priority.
