There is no set age a child can be dropped off without a guardian present. We provide schools with a purple “Met at Stop” tag for all new Kindergarten riders. The purple tag tells the bus driver someone must be at the stop to meet a child and can be used at any age. If you feel your child should be allowed off the bus without a guardian present, talk to your bus driver and operator to come up with a plan that works for your family. Ultimately, parents/guardians are responsible for their children’s safety going to or coming from the bus stop, even if the stop is at your home.
