Tri-Board is responsible for student transportation services (via school buses/vans) for the Algonquin & Lakeshore Catholic District School Board, the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, and the Limestone District School Board.
Tri-Board is required to procure services through open, fair, and transparent practices, such as Requests for Proposal (RFP), that align with governing laws of procurement, including the Government of Ontario’s Broader Public Sector Procurement Directive and applicable domestic and international trade agreements.
Current contracts for transportation services expire at the end of the 2025-2026 school year. These contracts have been in place since 2015.
In May 2025, Tri-Board issued an RFP for transportation services commencing in the 2026-2027 school year. The RFP was open to all qualified bus companies, including bus companies currently providing service to Tri-Board.
As a result of the RFP, the following five bus companies have been awarded multi-year contracts:
Landmark Student Transportation Ltd. and Switzer-Carty Transportation Services Inc. are current service providers for Tri-Board. Attridge Transportation Inc., Sharp Bus Lines Ltd, and Voyago are well established bus companies in other areas of Ontario that will become new service providers in the Tri-Board area.
Over the next few months, the bus companies providing service for the 2026-2027 school year will begin local hiring campaigns for qualified staff. A job board will be established on the Tri-Board website where jobs for bus drivers and other positions will be posted as Tri-Board is made aware of job opportunities by the bus companies.
Families will be advised in June 2026 regarding the bus company that will be assigned to their bus/van route for the 2026-2027 school year.
The current bus companies will continue to provide service for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year.
